Reconfigure your Recalbox system after a factory reset

Hello everyone! If you recently did a factory reset on your arcade cabinet and you find yourself with default settings in English, don't worry! In this tutorial, I'll show you how to get all your settings and configurations back in order. We'll put it all in French and adapt the controls so that everything works properly.

Step 1: Restore Controls

  1. Connect a Device: To get started, you'll need a USB keyboard or wired controller. Plug it into a USB port on your console.
  2. Access the Configuration Menu: To configure your controls, navigate the menu using the arrow keys. Go to “Controller Settings” and press the “Q” key to access the configuration options.
  3. Configure Controls: Hold down the buttons on your controller one by one to configure each key. Follow the on-screen instructions to assign the correct commands.
  4. Change Controller: Once the controls are set up for Player 1, you can unplug the keyboard and set up the controls for Player 2 in the same way.

Step 2: Configuring Settings

  1. Language Selection: Go to “System Settings” and choose the desired language (for example, French). This will change the interface language.
  2. Updates : I recommend disabling automatic updates, as they can sometimes affect your existing settings and configurations.
  3. Game Options: You can choose to smooth games to improve their appearance. Disable the rewind feature if you don't use it frequently.
  4. Auto Save/Load: Enable this option to have your games automatically save, allowing you to pick up where you left off.
  5. Bluetooth controller settings: If you use Bluetooth controllers, configure them here.
  6. Virtual Systems: Organize your games by genre or other criteria to make browsing easier. You can also create custom filters to better categorize your games.
  7. Resolutions: Leave the default settings, they are generally well suited.
  8. Kodi options: If you are not using a media center, disable Kodi.
  9. Network and Bluetooth: Connect your terminal to the Wi-Fi network and pair Bluetooth devices if necessary.
  10. Checking BIOS: Make sure all BIOSes are configured correctly.

Step 3: Test Settings and Games

  1. Start a Game: Choose an arcade game to verify that all settings and controls are working properly.
  2. Fix Problems: If you encounter issues, such as no sound, identify the source of the problem and apply the necessary adjustments. For example, for Neo Geo games, make sure you have the correct emulator set up.
  3. Different Games: Also test games from different emulators to verify that everything is working as it should.

Conclusion : There you have it, you have now restored your configurations and settings after a factory reset. By following this tutorial, you have put your arcade machine back in working order with the settings that suit you. Enjoy your games in peace and do not hesitate to explore more of the features of your machine. See you soon for new virtual adventures!
