Sega is set to release Sonic Origins Plus in June 2023, according to a recent Korean ranking submission. This new collection of Sonic remasters is expected to offer a more complete Sonic experience for the Nintendo Switch than the original Origins collection. Rumors suggest that the release is coming sooner than expected.
Update : Sega confirmed the official announcement a few hours after the rumors. The release is scheduled for June 23, 2023, Sonic's birthday. The prices have also been confirmed (9.99 $ for the upgrade and 39.99 $ for a new purchase). The update will bring 12 Game Gear titles to the collection.
Sonic Origins was released in June 2022, featuring remastered versions of the first four games in the franchise. However, some important titles were still missing, unlike 2002's Sonic Mega Collection and 2004's Sonic Mega Collection Plus, which offered significantly more games. As such, a re-release of the remastered collection is planned.
Gematsu reported that the Korea Game Evaluation and Administration Committee recently submitted a bid for a mysterious title: "Sonic Origins Plus." This leak revealed the upcoming release of this new collection.
Rumor has it this should come out on nintendo-switch in June 2023. This will be a $9.99 $ expansion for Sonic Origins owners, or a $39.99 $ collection if purchased new. With Origins being a remaster, it is likely that all the added titles will be enhanced. This collection will therefore be the true definitive Sonic collection available on current consoles. If we have already purchased Sonic Origins, the full expansion will be a small price to get the full collection.
